My husband has had ER surgeries, approved medical at the hospital stay. I reapplied for myself and daughter, and I believe another case was started 5/1/26.

I had previously in April uploaded the required info, pending review and approval way before 5/1/26. Now we were denied all benefits. He's admitted again 5/6/26. I'm unsure how to get this resolved.

All info had been uploaded to the 3/7/26 application; now I saw a new one and re-uploaded it to the new application started on 5/1/26. Can someone please help us get it reviewed by a CSR who knows what they're doing?

High call volume

Couldn't do the phone interview AT ALL! It's always due to high call volume and it's the entire day!

I tried calling first thing in the morning but no such luck! It's like they automatically have you on HIGH CALL VOLUME speed dial and it's so frustrating! We tried before going to an in-person interview like what the notice said but they said when we got there that they don't conduct in-person interview!!!

WTH!?!?! This is so frustrating!!

Right, because you're the only person trying to call in and get some benefits. Here's a thought, get a job with these people and help reduce call volume rather than insult the overworked people in there.

The whole issue sucks, the state is not answering their phones to us, and for people losing their aid, the sting hurts even harder. Start 6 months prior to needed.

No one answers phone for interview. Not enough workers.

I call and the phone is so overloaded with calls that it says "due to high call volume we cannot take your call"

I started calling at 7:45 am it was busy then I find out they open at 7-7pm. I tried again 8:05 am it said 45 min wait time I got through then It hung up.

I went to the DES office yesterday the worker said "DES interviewer never called you". The worker says "I put you for a phone call, you should have a phone call within 24-72 hour, unless you can call and get a hold of them sooner.

This morning I still can't get through!

The DES offices are filling up again!

They are not taking numbers and you have to stand in a long line with no seating. With my leg and back disability it was very hard to do, very painful.

Pros:
  • Most over the phone workers are easy to deal with and get things done
Cons:
  • Des becomes a circus act with kids crying pissed parents
  • Clients become a yo yo going back a forth
  • State does not let us know of changes laying off employees

Preferred solution: I want my interview for my renewal.

User's recommendation: If the state is minimizing workers for phone applications or for interviews they need to go back to the old way of taking numbers or calling people name out so we can sit down.

I can't reach anyone at DES by telephone. Chat virtual assistant doesn't work. Website options to withdraw are all greyed out.

Cons:
  • No service or communication no one the public can access

Preferred solution: I want to withdraw from services.

User's recommendation: If enrolled in Medicaid/AHCCCS do it throigh a different department and not DES.
